1960 Norton Norfield Cafe Racer for Sale1960 Norton Norfield Cafe Racer for Sale, recent build (less than 800 miles) Norfield 680cc ‘Supergun’ café racer. Built using top quality components throughout, the Frame is a Wideline Featherbed with a 1960 registration.

The engine is an absolute beast. It started out life in an Enfield ‘Sixty-5’, so it is electric start with 5 speed gearbox. But that is where any similarity with the ordinary 500 bullet ends. We kept the crankcases, starter and gearbox and threw nearly everything else away. It now has a one off 102mm stroke steel crank with a Carillo Rod and a forged 92mm piston in a sleeved alloy barrel, to give 680cc. It has fast-road cams and a big valve head with a 32mm carb. Uprated oil pumps, rockers, clutch etc etc – the works, it even has a specially machined timing cover to take a rev counter drive like the original Enfield Fury. A standard bullet has a 17 tooth gearbox sprocket. This has a 22 tooth sprocket and pulls like a train in all gears. As you would imagine, the torque is awesome.

( NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED )

The frame is a wideline featherbed, with one off engine plates in 10mm alloy – very strong (Triton plates are usually 8mm or 5/16”). Rear hub is brand new Enfield, as is the swing arm, bushed to fit the featherbed – perfect chain alignment/fit and dimensionally the same as the featherbed swingarm. Front forks are Triumph T140 as is the front wheel. Disc has AP alloy racing caliper and master cylinder is Magura with stainless braided hose. Flanged alloy rims front (WM2 19”) and rear (WM3 19”) are genuine Boranni, laced with Stainless Spokes. Tyres are new Avon Roadriders front and rear. Petrol tank is TAB Manx sprint style, seat is one off, alloy guards, double classic style battery box holds big Motobatt gel battery (cranks the big engine like its a 125). Rearsets are Tarozzi alloy, as is the forkbrace. Exhaust is a Chris Allen one off in stainless and sounds amazing. Clocks are proper Smiths, not Chinese copies. Currently fitted with clip-on bars with gel Beston Grips to match the seat, but you could fit normal bars if you wanted as I have suitable clamps for the T140 Top Yoke.

In summary, this is a top quality British café racer that can be ridden and enjoyed by anyone ie it’s a big ‘British’ single without the big British single starting drama and its also left foot shift so its perfect for your first try at a proper British café racer if you grew up on Jap stuff. It will keep up with any British twin (or outrun them!), never mind the singles – classic looks with modern convenience. This bike gets loads of attention – stand out from the crowd.
