1977 Honda CR CB750 Classic Bike For Sale (6)1977 Honda CR750 CB750 Classic Bike for Sale,  The bike started life as a standard Honda C750 four and was converted at huge expense into the Daytona winning replica that you see here.

For those not to familiar with the CR750 concept, it’s an interesting story: in 1969,Honda had launched it’s game changing CB750 four, and keen to establish the bikes credibility as a serious contender, it entered four of the machines in the 1970 Daytona 200. Success at Daytona offered huge benefits for the company in terms of promoting the Honda CB750 and consequently Honda signed up Dick Mann, Ralph Bryans and Tommy Robb to spearhead the assault. During the race Mann rode conservatively, preserving his machine whilst his major competitors retired with various problems, resulting in Mann taking victory. Honda had proved it’s point.

Tommy Rob was an Irishman, who had been one of the first non Japanese riders to be signed for by Honda in the early 1960’s and was a TT winner, was a great ambassador for Honda, Tommy is still alive and well, and until recently, still parading motorcycles, This particular CR750 was acquired from Ireland about 6 years ago and has been signed on the top of the fuel tank by the man himself Mr Tommy Rob + the fairing still carries its scrutineering sticker from the Isle Of Man TT, where it was paraded, You may also have seen the bike being paraded at the festival of 1000 bikes.

So how about the bike itself. I guess that the pictures tell most of the story, but there is more to the bike than meets the eye, First of all, unlike most of these replicas, the bike is road registered, and comes with a full V5c registration document, Prior to the bike being put on display, it was mot’d on a daytime only basis, The bike is ready to ride or show, Having said that, ignition is a total loss system due to the removal of the alternator to reduce engine width.

We have a huge history file that comes with the bike, including invoices, CR750 articles, relevant Classic Racer magazines, photographs of the build, and even a signed picture of Tommy Robb.

The engine has been rebuilt in fairly standard trim, albeit with Megacycle cam and a gas flowed head via The Cylinder Head Shop. Carbs are standard Honda for road use + we have a full brand new set of trick expensive Keihin CRs smoothbores ready for track day usage, the exhaust system is a bespoke 4 x megaphone system with detachable baffles. An oil cooler is fitted, and all lines on the bike are stainless braided, Again, unlike many of these replicas, both fuel and oil tanks are bespoke alloy, complete with polished Monza style fillers.

Running gear is equally impressive, with Genuine Morad flanged alloy rims and as new Avon Roadrunners. Braking is via the correct front twin disc conversion, with the rear being vented and converted to cable operation. Suspension has progressive units up front, and YSS dial a rides bring up the rear, There are loads of other beautiful little details, like the billet rearsets or the turned alloy instrument mount, and all go to present a stunning looking piece of history.

We are located in West London and open by appointment only, The bike can easily be delivered anywhere for an extra fee, Part exchange considered and welcome, All / most payments accepted, Please call the shop / showroom Monday to Friday between 10 and 5 during the day on 020 8997 2421 or you can try our 24/7 anytime mobile on 07973 11 12 13. please ask for Frank. our email address is fjk222@hotmail.com

I have just been out for a ride on this on this machine down the A40 in West London to Beaconsfield and back and must say I was impressed by its performance and road holding. WoW WoW WoW.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not you usual thrown together home made Cafe Racer out of a box of bits, everything is either bespoke or made by a skilled craftsman / engineer.

Price is very firm at £11,989
